This is a postcard I received and I absolutely LOVE it. The style, the lil fishies. It is wonderful. I had to share.

Yesterday there was only one, but when I went to get the mail today I saw this:

Spring is Coming!!!

This is my favorite picture. (sorry there are so many!)

beauty

And last but not least…..my new baby succulents. I’m starting a succulent garden. Yay!

dsc02221

I went to the botanical garden on Sunday, and they were selling these guys and some cacti. I’ve been wanting to start a garden, and these are perfect for beginner. They’re sitting on the edge of my desk. I really do hope I can keep these alive. It’s orchid month, and they have some absolutely beautiful flowers. (I think I said that in my last post).

I have started my vet assistant training. Yay! I got to see brand new baby newfoundland puppies. Those dogs are huge and beautiful and slobbery. I’m really excited about this job. One more week of training and then I officially start (and the real learning starts).

I’m shooting in states this weekend. Which is probably a bad idea cause I hurt my wrist on Monday somehow…and it is really killing me. I can’t even really hold my bow up. Despite this fact, I shot alright today, and hopefully I’ll do well tomorrow. National results are in, I got 41 out of 118. I was hoping to be in the 10-20 range…so this kinda stinks. But for not shooting for three years…that’s pretty good.

I watched ‘The boy in the striped pajamas’ and now my heart hurts. I don’t really want to rant or vent or even talk about it. It was a good movie, in terms that it really moves you. Unfortunately, it moved me to tears, and now I’m sad for humanity. Cause of course right after this movie was a special on human trafficking….and that was rough to. It really does make me sad that people have had to/go through such rough lives. I live in my wonderful lil life, without ever a thought for things like that. And the scum that facilitates that…….ugh. Makes my heart and soul ache.

So overall, doing great. I’m trying to catch up on posting, cause I’ve been stressing out about my sketchbook. It needs to be filled by Monday and I’m almost done. Now I just need to write an about the artist section, and a thank you section. I’m really happy with how it’s coming out.

A Father’s Dreams March 24, 2009

I’m reading a book called “Make Your Creative Dreams Real” by SARK. In it one of the questions is ‘What were your parents dreams?’ Sadly…I realized I didn’t know. I had never asked. So this morning I asked my dad what a dream of his was when he was a kid. And he answered to be an artist. I then asked him why he doesn’t draw anymore…he looked at me a little confused and answered that he did. He said he is an artist, everyday he sees and creates things that other people can’t see. It manifested itself in the form of corian for my father. He really is good at what he does, and he really does see things differently then other people. What it could be.

I realized I had a very narrow-minded concept of art. That I thought it had to be on paper or canvas and done with designated ‘art supplies’. My dad turned his art into something that could support him, which is something that not alot of artists can do. I never thought of my dad as an artist…well, not professionally, but I love that he sees himself this way. And I do to. I think instead of a carpenter. I’m going to call my dad an artist from now on.

I asked him what a dream of his was that he had now. He said to see his kids successful. I asked if he had any dreams for him. He said not really. That he could honestly say he lived all his dreams and that he was content.

How many people can say that! That is amazing. I never realized any of this about my father. I am so glad I asked.

I feel the need to be ridiculous! March 21, 2009

Filed under: Life — littlelynx @ 10:54 am

Just a bunch of leaves that caught my eye.

leaves

I feel the need to be ridiculous! To do something spontaneous and outside my box and new and unexpected! I feel so alive and the possibilities for today are endless. I wish I could share this feeling, to have it ignite someone else the way it has ignited my soul. Like a match suddenly stuck.

Today I’m going to write a note to those who inspire me. I don’t know them personally, but through their artwork and books they have touched me and made my day, my life better. So I’m going to thank them, because people don’t do that often enough. You never know, it might be the highlight of their day, and that’s the least I could do for them after what they’ve done for me.

“I have been touched by lives I didn’t know existed.”

And I’m truly grateful for it.

I’m off on an adventure today. It shall be wonderful!

Hi all,

I’m abandoning my livejournal account, and starting this new blog. Just for thoughts, questions, ideas, and laughter.

I feel better, happier, healthier, prettier. Life is good, and that is wonderful.
